GOLDEN CRAFT_  is a poster design inspired by the German proverb “Handwerk hat goldenen Boden” (Craftsmanship has a golden foundation). The project reflects my own family history, spanning five generations, and showcases the development of traditional shoemaking into modern orthopaedic shoe technology.  The design features a symbolic DNA strand that winds its way through time, intersecting and reconnecting, representing the passing down of skills, knowledge, and family traditions. Photos and content are positioned within the flowing band, visually illustrating the connection between the past and the present. Remarkably, photos dating back to 1838 were found, showing the earliest ancestors known to have worked in the craft. However, it is possible that even earlier generations were active in this field, though this can no longer be proven. This is why the depiction begins with an empty DNA strand – a symbolic starting point.
The poster captures the evolution of the family’s craft from 1838 to today, demonstrating how tradition and innovation have shaped the shoemaking profession over nearly two centuries. The result is a 1.9-meter-long poster.
