THREADLINE_ is a bespoke shoe project that combines traditional craftsmanship with unconventional techniques and a clear, linear design in the Bauhaus style. The upper was embroidered with a precise pattern showing a continuous line that is broken up by other lines. Various colors - red, green, yellow and white - set accents and lend depth to the minimalist design language. Several prototypes were necessary to generate the final shape and achieve the look and precision of an industrially manufactured shoe.
A new approach was used for the floor construction: a cork bed was built on the generated last mold, sanded to shape and vacuum formed with black build-up material. The mold was then processed on the grinding machine to create a 3-mm protruding edge reminiscent of custom-made industrial shoes, while at the same time creating an elegant sole geometry. The cork bed was then covered with Plastazote and leather before the upper was fixed, the sole roll sanded and a heel patch added.
